Amazon Web Services Launches Marketplace For Reserved Instances
Seattle-based Amazon Web Services, the web services arm of Amazon, said today that it has launched a new service, a marketplace for Reserved Instances on its cloud computing service. Reserved Instances is a service Amazon provides to businesses, allowing them to specifically reserve Amazon EC2 capacity for their own use. Apparently, customers doing so are now needing to sell back that capacity to others after finding they don't need it; Amazon said the new marketplace gives users the flexibility to sell that capacity, due to changing needs, moving a project to a new AWS region, or selling capacity for projects that end before the term expires.
