Rhapsody's SongMatch Takes On Music Discovery
Digital music service provider Rhapsody has launched a brand new, Android application called Rhapsody SongMatch, which it says is aimed at helping music listeners discover and learn more about music. The new, free app allows users to listen to a song playing on the TV, radio, at a store, or wherever--and get information on the artist, song name, and album. Seattle-based Rhapsody said the new app will also let subscribers listen to and download the full tracks of matched songs and albums. The new app is a direct competitor to Shazam, which offers similar functionality. Rhapsody said the app is one of a series of additional, purpose-build music apps that it says will compliment its on-demand music service.
