Digital video recorder manufacturer TiVo Inc. announced today that it and online digital music service Rhapsody have developed a way for consumers to listen to digital music via a broadband-connected TiVo DVR. The firms will enables consumers to browse Rhapsody's online music library, select the songs they would like to hear, and then immediately listen to those selections on their home entertainment systems, the firms said. To promote its new Rhapsody on TiVo service, TiVo said it is giving its subscribers a free, 30-day trial of Rhapsody. A subscription beyond the trial period will cost $12.99 per month, TiVo added. Rhapsody is a service of Seattle-based Rhapsody America LLC, which is a joint venture between RealNetworks and MTV Networks, a unit of Viacom .
