Microsoft Offers Free Wi-Fi In NYC, San Francisco

Microsoft is offering free wireless Internet service to users in high use areas in New York City and San Francisco, as part of a promotion for Windows 8, according to Wi-Fi provider Boingo Wireless. Boingo said that Microsoft is sponsoring free, Wi-Fi access through the end of the year at Manhattan subway stations and NYC and San Francisco Hotzones, as part of the launch push for Windows 8 and the Windows Store for Windows 8. The two firms did not disclose the terms ofthe sponsorship deal, which was announced Monday. The free wireless will cover six Manhattan subway stations, and across Wi-Fi hotzones in San Francisco, including Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, UN Plaza, the Financial District, Nob Hill, and other locations.
