Amazon Launches French Kindle Store
Seattle-based Amazon.com said this morning that it has launched its first, French language Kindle, on its French site, Amazon.fr. According to Amazon, it has launched in France with over 35,000 French language Kindle books. Amazon's Kindle store has previously only been available to customers in the US, the UK, and Germany. As part of the French launch, Amazon also said it is opening up the self publishing options of the Kindle to French authors; it says it has launched its Kindle Direct Publishing in France to allow for publishers and authors to make their Kindle books available in that country. Amazon's new Kindle store serves France, Belgium, Monaco, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
