Amazon's New Cloud Computing Competitor: Google
It looks like Amazon is getting a new, formidable competitor in the web services arena today, after Google told users at its Google I/O conference that it will launch a new, Compute Engine infrastructure-as-a-service. The new service is a direct competitor to Amazon Web Services, allowing users to host their servers and data in the cloud, running on Google's infrastructure. Pricing and details on the new cloud service have not been disclosed. Google said its Compute Engine service will provide Linux-based, virtual machines.
