Amazon Hires 500 For Cloud Efforts In Virginia
Seattle-based Amazon.com is in a big, cloud computing effort in Virginia, according to Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. According to a statement from Fairfax County, Virginia, Amazon will add 500 new jobs through a big expansion of Amazon Web Services. Amazon's staffers will work on providing its various cloud computing services near Herndon, Virginia, for both commercial and government customers. The boost comes after Amazon reportedly won a major contract with the CIA to support a private cloud effort with the spy agency.
