Elemental Wins MobiTV

Portland-based Elemental, which develops video encoding and processing hardware and software, reported a win today with MobiTV. Elemental did not disclose the financial impact of the win. MobiTV is using Elemental's video delivery and encoding platform for streaming more than 40, HD television channels to devices through its service, according to Elemental. The new win was announced along with a move to brand Elemental's encoding technology as "software-defined video solutions for multiscreen content delivery". Elemental's core technology is the use of off-the-shelf, graphical processing unit (GPU) processors to accelerate the transcoding of videos between different formats.
