Intermec Loses CEO

Everett, Washington-based Intermec, the developer of bar code printers, RFID systems, and other products, said this morning that Patrick J. Byrne, its President, CEO, and board member, has resigned. Intermec said that its Chairman, Allen J. Lauer, will become interim CEO and President, until a successor is found. Intermec did not detail the reasons for the move, only saying the move would make sure that it could "focus on excellence and innovation." Lauer has been on Intermec's board since 2003, and was formerly the CEO of Varian.
