Microvision Lands Licensing Deal With Pioneer

Redmond-based Microvision, the developer of miniature, projection display technology, reported a win today with Pioneer Corporation. The company said the definitive agreement with Pioneer will provide license revenue to the firm, with Pioneer licensing and manufacturing MicroVision's HD PicoP Gen2 display engine technology for its own line of automotive aftermarket products. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Microvision said the move to license out the technology and manufacturing to Pioneer is part of an effort it calls "Image by PicoP", where it will license out its technology to others, and reduce working capital requirements if it were to manufacture and distribute its own products.
