T-Mobile Whacks 3,300 Call Center Workers
Bellevue-based T-Mobile said Thursday that it is cutting 3,300 workers across seven of its 24 call centers, as par tof a consolidation of the organization. Among the centers hit by the cuts are one in Redmond, Oregon. T-Mobile said the decision "was not easily reached" but is part of an effort to match its cost structure to its customer base and call volumes. T-Mobile is offering works an option to transfer to its 17 remaining call centers, and also plans to bolster employment at those remaining centers, the firms said in its announcement.
