Amazon Web Services Opens Datacenter In Brazil
Seattle-based Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing and web services arm of Amazon, said this morning that it has opened up a data center in Brazil, to extend its cloud computing platform to South America. The firm said the new data center is the eighth geographic region of the world where it has deployed its platform. Amazon Web Services said the new, South America (Sao Paulo) Region can now be used to run applications in South America. Amazon's users are able to create instances of computing and storage to scale their apps, without having to worry about actual hardware; as part of that process, developers can select if they want a specific region for their virtual compute resources, usually a region located close to a company's users. Amazon launched the new datacenter with a long list of current, South American customers.
