Amazon Expands AWS In Japan
Seattle-based Amazon Web Services, the web services arm of Amazon.com, said today that it has launched a datacenter in Japan to support its cloud computing service. The firm said the region is the fifth where it has deployed its platform. Amazon said its Tokyo Region is serving Mitsui & Co.., Zynga, gumi Inc. COOKPAD, and others. The additional datacenter support is part of an ongoing buildout of local data centers for AWS; the nearby location helps reduce latency and improve response times for locally located users.
