Microsoft, GE Create New Healthcare Joint Venture
Redmond-based Microsoft and GE said late Wednesday that they are creating a new, 50-50 joint venture, to aim at the healthcare IT business. According to the two companies, the new joint venture will be based in Redmond, and will incorporate Microsoft's Amalga, Vergence, and expreSSO healthcare applications, as well as GE Heathcare's eHealth and Qualibria health applications. The new company will have locations in both Redmond and in Salt Lake City, Utah. Michael J. Simpson, vice president and general manager at GE Healthcare IT, will become CEO of the new company.
