Clearwire Launches In Malaga, Spain

Kirkland-based Clearwire Communications, said today that the firm is expanding its 4G, mobile Internet service in the city of Malaga, Spain. The firm said the new network will be the first, metropolitan 4G network in Spain, and its first 4G network in Europe. The firm said the new network will provide access for up to nearly 600,000 Malaga residents. Clearwire had said last year that it would launch service in Spain this year, starting with Malaga and Seville. The firm is tapping WiMAX equipment providers Alvarion and ZTE for those deployments.
