Expedia's TripAdvisor Suffers Security Breach

TripAdvisor.com, the travel reviews and information site owned by Bellevue-based Expedia, has suffered a security breach, the firm reported this morning, after an "unauthorized third party" stole part of the firm's member email list. TripAdvisor told its users in an email that it is actively pursuing the matter with law enforcement, confirmed the source of the vulnerability, and shut it down. TripAdvisor did not say how many emails were stolen, however, it said only a portion were stolen, and passwords remain secure. The firm said it believed users might receive unsolicited emails/spam as a result of the incident.
