SoloPower Gets $197M For Wilsonville Factory
Silicon Valley-based SoloPower, a developer of thin film solar cells and associated photovoltaic modules, said Thursday that it has received a $197M loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy, which will go towards its recently announced factory in Wilsonville, Oregon. SoloPower said the guarantee came from the Department of Energy (DOE) Loan Programs Office, and will go towards construction of its facility. SoloPower had said in January that it had selected Wilsonville for the new factory, initially creating as many as 500 jobs. The firm said the plant will have a capacity to produce 400MW of solar panels annually.
