Lockerz Announces Social Commerce Platform
Seattle-based Lockerz has rolled out what it calls a "social commerce" platform, which it describes as a hybrid of e-commerce and social networking. The firm, which is backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Liberty Media, said its new product rewards members for introducing friends to fashion, electronic, and technology brands, as well as music and videos. The new service goes under the name fwb;). Lockerz said the new product will provide "Decalz"--social badges--and "PTZ", points they can use for buying products and getting discounts, for sharing information with friends, answering polls, watching videos, and other actions. Lockerz is one of the firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers highlighted Thursday with the launch of its social fund, the sFund.
