Microsoft Ties With Japanese Researchers On Cloud Computing
Redmond-based Microsoft has tied with a Japanese research institute, the National Institute of Informatics (NII), on cloud computing research, according to the two last night. According to Microsoft and NII, they are in a joint program which will give university researchers free access to advanced cloud computing resources. Microsoft will donate "substantial" Windows Azure cloud resources to NII's Info-Plosion Project, with Microsoft working with researchers to provide them with tools, applications, and other resources. Other details of the deal and grants were not disclosed.
