Walk Score Adds Commuting Calculator
Seattle-based Front Seat, the firm behind the Walk Score, said today that it has added a new Transit Score and commuting report to its service. Walk Score is an online service which helps consumers figure out the "walkability" and pedestrian friendliness of properties. According to the service, it is now offering a home and transportation cost calculator and "transit score" which will help figure ou the proximity of public transportation, commuting options, and other costs for addresses. The new score will provide a 0-100 rating of how well an address is served by public transportation. Front Seat said the new Transit Score will be available in over 30 cities, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C. The firm said that the new effort was funded in part by the The Rockefeller Foundation, which says it hopes the new score will help Americans "re-think our transportation future" when they decide where to live and work.
