Lockerz Launches Internationally
Seattle-based Lockerz.com, an invitation-only, social shopping and commerce startup backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, said today that it has launched its Lockerz SHOP services in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. According to the firm, the expansion follows a successful beta in the U.S. launched in May. Lockerz provides membership points to userse for watching videos, listening to music, and shopping for electronics, gaming, electronics, and sporting gear. Those users are then able to use those membership points to earn discounts on weekly private brand sales. The firm said it now has more than 16 billion registered members. Lockerz was founded and is run by Kathy Savitt, and also has scored backing from Liberty Media, in addition to KPCB.
