According to Platial, it has immediately updated maps with instructions and links for exporting, and that it expects that its service may go offline as soon as tomorrow, March 2nd. Platial said the shutdown is occuring due to disconnection from its Internet Service Providers. No other details on the shutdown--or the story behind the abrupt shutdown--were given. Platial was venture backed by from KeyNote Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Caufield & Byers, Omidyar Network, Ram Shriram, Ron Conway and others, and had raised $2.4M in a Series A in March of 2007, on top of existing angel investment.
