Amazon Sued Over Book Search Patent
Amazon.com has been sued by a company over the book seller's online site, which allows users to search within books. Texas OCR Technologies filed the patent infringement suit in the Texas Eastern District Court on Friday, naming both Amazon and Amazon Services LLC, the firm's web services subsidiary, as a defendant. Texas OCR Technologies says that Amazon infringed on its patent -- United States Patent No. 6,363,179 -- specifically, by providing the "Search Inside This Book" feature on the Amazon web site. Texas OCR Technologies said in its complaint that it is looking for "an amount that adequately compensates it for their infringements."
