Microsoft, Amazon In Patent Deal
Microsoft and Amazon.com said late Monday evening that the two are in a patent cross license, which will give both companies access to each other's patent portfolio. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, however, Microsoft said that Amazon.com is paying Microsoft an undisclosed amount of money under the agreement. The two companies said that the patent deal specifically covers Amazon's Kindle reader, and its use of open source, Amazon proprietary software, and use of Linux-based servers.
