Insitu: Encryption Support Tested On Our Aircraft

Bingen, Washington-based Insitu, a developer of unmanned aircraft for the Department of Defense, said Friday that it has successfully flight tested an encrypted digital data link system on its Integrator unmanned aircraft system. The encryption system comes from L-3. According to Insitu, it is integrating the encryption system into its ScanEagle, NightEagle and Integrator UAS products. The revelation came after widespread coverage this week of the ability of insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan downloading unencrypted video feeds from a number of different unmanned aircraft. Insitu is a subsidiary of Boeing.
