Amazon Turns To UGC For Advertising Campaign
Seattle-based Amazon.com is turning to user-generated content for its newest TV ad effort, saying today that the firm is inviting customers to create a television ad for the firm, for a chance to win $20,000 in Amazon.com gift cards. According to Amazon, entries into its contest--which is is billing "Your Amazon Ad Contest"--will be judged on creativity, overall appeal, and likelihood of inspiring viewers to shop at the site. Entries are due July 17th, with five finalists will be selected on August 24th; the company said that it will then allow audiences to vote on a "Audience Prize" winner in addition to selecting its own winner. The contest is being run through Amazon property Withoutabox, which was acquired by Amazon IMDB in January of last year.
