Extensis Gains Patent
Portland-based Extensis, a developer of font management software, reported today that it has gained a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The firm said the patent covers the display of multiple fonts in a preview window. According to the company, the patent is numbered 7,539,939. The U.S. Patent and Trademark office shows that the patent was granted last week, on May 26th, and names M. Todd Schomer as the inventor; the patent was actually filed all the way back in July of 2000, and was filed when the firm still owned CreativePro.com. According to LinkerIn, Schomer, the inventor of the Extensis patent, is now at Apple Computer. Extensis is a division of Celartem Inc.
