Amazon Upgrades SQS, Adds EU Support

Amazon.com's Web Services business has upgraded its Simple Queue Service, telling its users Thursday that it has upgraded the service and extended it to customers in the EU region. Amazon's SQS service is used by developers to send messages between distributed applications, and are used in conjunction with Amazon's EC2, S3, and other services to scale out web applications. According to Amazon, the firm has added local resources in the EU region to support the service, and will charge the same rates in the EU as it does in the US. In addition, among the other features of the upgraded service, is the ability to use the service to integrate non-AWS applications with web applications running on Amazon.
