Clearwire Looks To Silicon Valley For Innnovation
Kirkland, Washington-based Clearwire, which is deploying a WiMax-based wireless network across markets nationwide, said Thursday that it is looking to help mobile broadband developers by creating what it calls a "WiMax Innovation Network" covering 20 square miles in Silicon Valley. According to Clearwire, it will extend coverage to campuses of companies such as Google and Intel as part of the effort, to give developers access to its network ahead of a Bay Area rollout in 2010. The firm said it will offer its network for free, to a limited number of qualified developers.
