Getty Images Opens Flickr Collection

Seattle-based Getty Images has officially launched the firm's user-sourced, photography collection based on photographs from photo sharing site Flickr, the firm said today. Getty, which inked a deal with Yahoo's Flickr site several months ago to collect images from the site, said that the Flickr Collection will be available exclusively on its web site for commercial licensing. Flickr is an online photo sharing site which has attracted amateur photographers, who post their photos to a community which comments and critiques photos. According to Getty, the images in the collection were selected by Getty Images editors, and will have new images added each month.
