Clearwire Debuts In Portland
Clearwire said Tuesday afternoon that the WiMax service provider has debuted its services in Portland, offering both home Internet and mobile Internet access to users in the city through a service called Clear. According to Clearwire, the new service will cost $20 a month for home Internet service, $20 for mobile Internet, and day passes available for $10. Clearwire said the service will provide up to 6 Mbps download speeds via residential service, and 4 Mbps on mobile Internet. Both mobile and residential hardware for access is coming from Motorola. Portland is Clearwire's second launch market; the firm currently offers its WiMax services in Baltimore, Maryland.
