iLike, TuneCore Joint Venture Targets Indie Artists

Seattle-based iLike Inc. revealed Monday that it is collaborating with a digital music distributor in hopes of producing an application that independent artists can use to make money and get discovered. iLike, which is an online music-sharing service, said it and Brooklyn-based TuneCore are developing a turnkey solution that combines iLike's music promotion and discovery services with TuneCore's digital distribution model. The net result, iLike said, will provide independent artists with a means to distribute, promote and sell their music, essentially allowing them to act as their own label. Financial details of the collaboration were not disclosed. iLike is a privately held company backed by Ticketmaster Corp.
