General Software Acquisition Completes
The acquisition of Bellevue, Washington-based General Software, a developer of BIOS software, has completed, acquirer Phoenix Technologies said Tuesday. Phoenix Technologies, which also develops embedded BIOS software used to boot PCs and other electronics devices, has not disclosed financial terms of the acquisition, which was originally announced in July. According to Phoenix Technologies, the entire General Software team will continue to maintain operations in Bellevue. Steve Jones, founder and Chairman of General Software, has become VP and Chief Scientist of Embedded Solutions at Phoenix Technologies. General Software is a maker of embedded firmware which is used to start up electronics devices, before handoff to operating systems and other software.
