Microsoft Inks IP Cross-Licensing Deal with Nikon
Computing heavyweight Microsoft Corp. revealed last night that it has signed a patent cross-licensing agreement with Tokyo-based camera manufacturer Nikon Corp. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Microsoft did say that it is being compensated by Nikon. The Redmond, Wash.-based firm added that the agreement covers Nikon's digital cameras and a "broad range" of consumer products that each company manufactures and sells. Microsot said the agreement was the latest in what are more than 500 licensing agreements with such firms as LG Electronics, NEC Corp., Pentax, Samsung, Olympus Corp. and Nortel Networks.
