Wireless Maritime Services to Gain SeaMobile Assets

Seattle-based Wireless Maritime Services, a joint venture of AT&T Mobility and SeaMobile Enterprises, announced Monday that it will acquire certain maritime wireless assets of SeaMobile Enterprises' SeaMobile Wireless. Terms of the pending deal were not disclosed. WMS said it will acquire SeaMobile Wireless' master services contracts, onboard wireless telecommunications equipment and shore-side infrastructure. The transaction, WMS explained, will allow the company to keep travelers at sea connected to virtually anywhere using their own mobile devices. WMS added that the transition of assets will be seamless to cruise and ferry ships because the onboard equipment will remain untouched.
