SeaMobile Updates Satellite Service
Seattle-based SeaMobile's european division, SeaMobile Europe, said this week that it has updated the firm's Media ClipWay software for journalists. The firm, which provides broadband communications and networking to cruise ships, ships at sea, and in other markets, said that the firm's updated software allows journalists to provide broadcast quality video over two satellite modems for better quality video. According to the firm, its new product can use satellite, ISDN, xDSL or 3G systems to send 25 to 30 frames per second video. The product is currently being used by France 24, BFM TV, Tele Africa, Canal +, TSR, Skai TV, RTS and others in their reporting. Seamobile Europe was formerly Geolink, and was acquired by SeaMobile in December of 2006. The firm's telecom services use Inmarsat, Iridium, Intelsat, and Eutelsat to provide high speed Internet access.
