Amazon.com Debuts Currency Converter
Seattle-based online retailer Amazon.com announced today that it has implemented a new payment feature to its Web site that will allow select international customers to make purchases in the currency of their payment card rather than in U.S. dollars. Amazon said the Amazon Currency Converter currently supports 11 denominations: the Australian dollar, Danish krone, euro, Hong Kong dollar, Japanese yen, New Zealand dollar, Norwegian krone, pound sterling, South African rand, Swedish krona, and Swiss franc. Previously, Amazon noted, international customers were uncertain of the actual costs of their purchases until receiving their card statements.
