Eschelon Telecom Acquires UNICOM for $13.9M
United Communications Inc., also known as UNICOM, has been purchased by Eschelon Telecom Inc. for some $13.9 million in cash, Eschelon announced Tuesday. A privately held firm headquartered in Bend, Oregon, UNICOM sells business telephone systems and local, long distance and Internet access services throughout Oregon and parts of Washington. The company grosses some $19 million annually. Eschelon said it will integrate UNICOM with its existing operations. Based in Minneapolis, Eschelon Telecom provides voice and data services and business telephone systems throughout the West.
