Amazon Expands In Austin

Seattle-based Amazon said this morning that it plans to expand in Austin, with a plan to set up a new Austin Tech Hub. According to Amazon, it will create 800 new technology jobs, in the area of software and hardware engineering, research science, and cloud computing in the new center, which will bring its total number of "tech hubs" in North America to 17. Amazon already is a big employer in Texas, with 22,000 full time employees, mostly at its customer fulfillment centers spread across the state.
