Jeff Bezos Launches New $2 Billion Fund To Start Preschools, Help Homeless

Amazon's Jeff Bezos, along with his wife, have launched a new, $2 billion fund to help fund nonprofit preschools and help organizations supporting homeless families, Bezos said on Thursday. According to a statement released on Twitter by Bezos, the new Day One Fund will fund existing nonprofits that help homeless families, and create a network of new, non-profit, tier-one preschools in low-income communities. The fund also will provide leadership awards to organizations and civic groups providing shelters and hunger support for young families, according to Bezos. The new fund comes as Bezos has come under fire by Senator Bernie Sanders for his immense wealth, while his employees--according to Sanders--"must rely on food stamps, Medicaid, or subsidized housing, in order to survive."
