Remitly Hits $5 Billion In Volume, Expands To Australia
Seattle-based Remitly, which operates an digital remittance service driven by a mobile app, reported late Wednesday that it has nearly doubled its annual volume, to over $5 billion, and expanded to Australia. Remitly says it now allows its customers to send money from the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Australia, to family in such countries as India and the Philippines. Remitly focuses on remittances--the payments made by overseas workers, to family and friends in their home countries, and making it easier (and cheaper) for those workers. Remitly is led by CEO and co-founder Matt Oppenheimer.
