Microsoft Ventures Becomes M12

Microsoft Ventures, the venture investment arm of Microsoft, said on Monday that it has renamed itself as M12. The name change came after some confusion between what Microsoft Ventures had been prior to Microsoft's formal venture investment efforts--a group focused on startup acceleration, which is now part of Microsoft ScaleUp. According to M12, entrepreneurs "still face confusion" on the appropriate interface at Microsoft for their needs. M12 said the change should make it clear to entrepreneurs that "we invest in them in exchange for equity."
