Pivotal Commware Connects With $17M
Bellevue-based Pivotal Commware, a new, metamaterials spinout of Intellectual Ventures, said on Friday that it has raised $17M in an initial funding. The funding came from The Thermo Companies and DIG Investment, plus Bill Gates, Lux Capital, the family office of Barry Sternlicht, and others. Pivotal commware is developing holographic, beam-forming (HBF) technology to market. The company said its technology is being applied to the cellular market, in-flight communications, and defense, and in particular is useful for vehicles in motion (planes, cars, ships, trains and drones). The company says it has been generating revenues for over a year as prime contractor to an air-to-ground, in-flight communications service provider.
