Amazon Provides Discounted Prime For Those On Food Stamps
In an unusual move, Seattle-based Amazon.com said last night that it will start offering up a discounted price on its Amazon Prime program, for those receiving government assistance. According to Amazon, customers with a valid Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card--which is used for food assistance--will receive Prime for $5.99 per month. Amazon said the EBT cannot be used to pay for membership. The pricing is a discount both from the usual $10.99 monthly price, as well as the yearly price of $99, equivalent to $8.25 a month.
