Amazon Hikes Prime To $99 A Year

Seattle-based Amazon.com has hiked the price of its Amazon Prime service to $99 a year, up from what had only been $79 a year. The $20 increase is the first in the program, which offers up free, two-day shipping and access to streaming movie and television shows via the Internet. In a letter to current Amazon Prime subscribers, the company blamed increasing fuel and transportation costs for the move. Amazon Prime has been at $79 for the last nine years, ever since it was introduced.
