Spaceflight Launches BlackSky, Shows Off Tracking Of Aleppo Crisis
Seattle-based Spaceflight Industries said this morning that it has started rolling out its BlackSky real time, earth imaging platform in early adoption, with a prime use case in the growing crisis in Aleppo. Spaceflight said its software is being used by a select group of customers, including the World Bank, RS Metrics and United Nations, to provide real time information on global events. The company showed off its platform, showing real time satellite images from both its own satellite and another 10, high resolution imaging spacecraft from a number of other providers, combined with relevant social media and other data feeds from the area. The company is eventually planning to have its own, 60-satellite constellation to feed into its data platform.
