Amazon Backs Thalmic Labs
Amazon.com is one of the backers of humaninterface and gesture control armband maker Thalmic Labs, in a $120M funding round, Thalmic said this morning. According to Thalmic, the Series B funding round came from Intel Capital, Amazon Alexa Fund, and Fidelity Investments Canada, plus Spark Capital, First Round Capital, and iNovia. Thalmic, which is based in Waterloo, ON, Canada, develops the Myo armband, which monitor electrical activity in a user's muscles to control gesture control in the entertainment, virtual reality, and other areas. Amazon said that it will explore future product integration of Thalmic's technology with Alexa as part of the investment.
