Seattle Beats Silicon Valley In Best Tech Salaries, Says Report

A new report, issued by Indeed.com, says that Seattle beats Silicon Valley in terms of the the top cities for technology jobs -- after adjusting for the incredibly high rents in Silicon Valley. According to Indeed's report, Seattle was ranked number two, with an adjusted average salary of $91,242 for a list of 15 key tech positions, beating out Silicon Valley's position at number three, with $90,457. Austin was number one, with an adjusted average salary of $95,247. Seattle ranked as number five without the tech salary adjustment. As an example, Indeed said that if you look at San Francisco, even though the average salary was $108,000, tech workers there are paying a median of $3,357 in monthly rent; in Austin, rents are only $1,693 a month. The Indeed report also detailed, job-by-job, which cities paid better than others after living cost adjustment.
