Shyft Scores $1.5M
Seattle-based Shyft Technologies, a startup developing a shift-swapping, mobile app to help hourly workers swap shifts, has raised $1.5M in a seed funding, the company said this morning. The funding came from Madrona Venture Group, Heather Redman, Russell Okung, Edgar Martinez, and T.A. McCann. Shyft says it is already being used in about a third of Starbucks' US locations. The startup is led by Brett PAtrontasch. The company--taking a strategy from the playbook of the likes of Yammer and others--lets users self identify where they are working, allowing those users to swap shift times among each other even without the participation of employers.
