INRIX Acquires OpenCar
Kirkland-based INRIX said this morning that it has acquired Seattle-based OpenCar, a developer of automotive software and services. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. According to INRIX, it specifically acquired OpenCar to "challenge Apple and Google" in the car, by offering up a broad portfolio of third party content and applications to automakers. INRIX said the buy will expand it into the digital dashboard area. OpenCar was backed by Mazda Motors, and had been offering up a white label, application development environment. INRIX specifically said it is looking to use OpenCar's technology to counter Google's Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
